I only had 5 hours until I left. And instead of repacking the items I had recently unpacked during my latest freak out, I was in bed, under the covers and adamant on staying there.
In the past, I’ve only felt excitement in the anticipation of any trip. This time was different. I felt nothing but dread and fear.
I stepped off the plane and made my way to baggage claim. After dragging my backpack off the conveyer belt, I proceeded to the nearest bench. I sat Googling the cost of a return ticket and wondering to myself what else was refundable?
2 hours later, I was still sitting on the bench.
Still, what was the problem? I’m here now. The hard part was over, right?
One reluctant train ride and bus transfer later, I had made it into downtown and to the art museum.
Clueless of the current exhibits, I asked for one student ticket (even though I’m in my 30s, I still use that ID for everything), and proceeded up the stairs.
Once at the top, I was greeted with vinyl lettering that read:
“Ganesha – The Playful Protector
As the Overcomer of Obstacles, Ganesha is often found at the start of an experience…”
I let out a deep sigh and nodded.
OK, Universe…
I was officially Elsewhere bound.
Be open to all opportunities, thinking about you on your new journey.
